Estes Park Wool Market - The Market - Part Three

It was so much bigger than I remembered from , what, like 15 years ago? I went and bought some beautiful Ironstone mohain in a rich sapphire blue with glorious fleck of pink, white and black.

Fast forward to 2007, WOW, Dorothy, I don't think were in Kansas anymore, so much more to see. I totally was so frenzied at Brooks Farm, I forgot to take pictures, or did I?

This first booth had the cutest stuff to collect and the yarn was great also.

Then I came across some vintage collectables, I saw this mag and thought, yeap, I remember doing my hair that way, which to me describes the ultimate bad hair day!

And then the little porcelains and glass sheep, just too cute.

Interlacements, yes, there's Judy L. Ditmore in the bottom right-hand corner! I love her yarns! The mohair just barely, barely sheds and the colors are trippin' the light fantastic! People were moving fast in her booth! She was printing off patterns like crazy!

DENVER CREATIVE FESTIVAL STASH

Decisions, decisions, loving the green crazy quilting, but I think it needs some purple to tone it down and can't decide whether to add the yellow silk velvet. I am rather fond of the cooler grouping.

Then here I am winding and winding away. I got it all done in one evening and the last one early Sunday morning and then worked the two swatches. I love them both. The toastie toes is such a gorgeous mountain pine. The others are very blue and one is missing because I wound it last nite on the way out to eat and I believed I lost it. It totally through me into a searching frenzy. I then made the mistake of telling hubby. He reminded me I only paid $5 dollars for it and I told him I looked it up on the net and it was worth $38. He then accused me of coveting, reminding me I had yarn stashed everywhere and he wasn't going on a 32 mile round trip and I had to face it, it was lost. I greived, moaned, didn't cry (almost did). He went to take me to choir practice at 4:00pm and as soon as I sat down in the car I said, "Oh, I left it in the glove box, so I wouldn't lose it getting out of the car, rather sheepishly...." Hubby was rather happy smiling and all was good....it's the one missing from the photos.

CELEBS AND STASH

Tamara called last week and asked if I had ever been, and of course, yes, and I knew exactly what I wanted. We power shopped arriving at 10:00 A.M. and leaving at 2:00 P.M. First off I had to buy this cute little crocheted shrug, my reasoning was that I could use it to make a pattern. Then all this yarn I purchaed at Interlacements out of their grab bags for five and fifteen dollars the other is Tamara's stash from the same place and bag. We then went to the Philosopher's Wool Fair Isle class and I relearned the right way to do Fair Isle knitting. I was serious about it 25 years ago and made the sweater I was wearing (see it with the Philospher's photo op pic), but I really forgot how to do it and knew I wasn't carrying my yarn exactly right (I had learned to twist it) to weave it into the back, boy did I totally learn how to do it and now, look out, I am a steamroller baby!!!!! I also had the pleasure of meeting Helen Gibb, my all time favorite silk ribbon embroiderer. She was kind to let me also get a picture with her. I got this great pack of silk velvet and this "Oliver Twists" by Jean Oliver called 'One Offs' variety of cotton and rayon threads hand dyed in the UK (not guaranteed colourfast), and then all of this Interlacements yarn out of their grab bags for five and fifteen dollars. I have alway wanted to attempt a mohair lace shawl, well now what am I waiting for? Seriously, I have never purchased a ball winder and swift....well now I know why....when it come to 1000+ yards of mohair, well, a girl whose been knitting since '76 really needs to realize, the exercise she gets from winding 225 yards is okay for merinos and such, but mohair? Dare less I get too excited to knit it and go ahead and wind it. Tam said it would take me three days, but I think, I could easily get it wound tonite....what am I wagering? It's darn good exercise and I need it, I don't have time and money to waste on that stuff, I'd rather be buying or knitting yarn ya'all!!!!!
