Knittin' and Quiltin'

I am trying to complete another pair of Jaywalkers, this time in Fortissama Colori Disco Socka Color, color 01, a nice denim blue with lines of various greens! There are also specks of metallic for that cutesy glitter effect! I am also teaching a quilting class. M'liss Ray Hawley's "Quilt Interrupted" from her book, Phenomenal fat quarters quilts. I chose a warm pale aqua some monos and some with contrasting peach and orange flowers. The lattice I have not decided to go darker aqua or a tea stained color. I am leaning for a tea stained color and a lighter, warm, more vintage look to this quilt.

I will have completed 13 socks if I finish these jaywalkers this 2007 summer(the June 18 (Summer Soltice at 3:06 pm) to the Autumnal Equinox, Sept 23 (9:51am)! I am dying to complete them for my group, Summer Socks, in Ravelry and those are the rules for counting the pairs of socks made this year!

I have been cleaning my sewing room and those are my blue ribbons I have won on my work table. I have been cleaning them to remount!

Over the edge without a camera

Alot of my flowers did not get documented as I desired, but I am getting such good pictures, it has been so worth the wait!
This is my favorite flower - delphinium (Larkspur) in my favorite color! Behind them are the almost spent cherry colored peonies. Yep, they are hangin' their heads with great heaviness. I saw these peony cages, next year, maybe?

So not havin' a camera for over a week has been rather theraputic, but I was so jonesin' for one! I was able to complete two pair of socks and a crocheted necklace! Phew, the Jaywalkers, by Grumperina have been started over 6 times, I really lost count. The main reason is because of the way I read patterns. Grumperina says to continue pattern, and I was use to wording that says, "repeat last two rows!" Well, I should have known knitting anything lacey, you seem to always just knit a row between, duh! I guess it's the years of crochet that mess with me and especially with a ripple pattern, in crochet every row is the same! Opal's PRISMA is the yarn I purchased last summer at Colorful Yarns

Then I gladly, joyously introduce my own design, "The Larkspur Hikers" I will name them. I love a tall sock, no skimpy short socks for me! Many patterns and edges, and techniques inspired this design, and I have to give credit to the yarn, Trekking 166! I purchased the yarn at The Lamb Shoppe.

Then there is the Uffizi in Berroco's Boho yarn which I bought at 15% off this month at Knitting Habitat. I crocheted it Sunday and wore to the 5@5(fifth service at 5pm) church service. I immediately received a compliment as I have every where I wore the the thing - Safeway, Walmart, ....I didn't think it would be such a big deal. You know, compliments are hard to come by these days!

So I am having a blast with the 10X zoom and even thougth this camera doe not have the stabliztion feature the other one did (that's why its is so much cheaper than others) I love it! I really, really love it. I can still get the nice detail of my stitches and flowers!

No crabapples this year?

Hubbie got this cool stainless steel exhaust pipe w/tailpipe for his PT Cruiser, got it on before all this snow! He could wait to take me for a ride. He told me how it sounds like a Harley now! So I went and I have to agree, it's pretty cool. Plus, it will save on gas. But, it's not too loud and there is some vibe, and what a cool little end pipe (at top of box).

Since he got something, I talked him into taken me shoppin'. We went to my local Joann Fabrics and he got me some books with my 50% off coupons, yeah, more money to spend on good yarn and stuff.

Here's the snow we got after two days of rain. Wonder if we'll have crabapples, I could honestly do without the mess, and am not into jellies, but the flowers are so pretty while they last.

So, I found this mistake on a top down sock, clear up at the top border and think I may have to film myself fixin' it. It's something I have prided myself about. But it's late night and I will have to wait for some good light in the morning. I have been drooling over my new books, readin' 'em like they were a dirty novel or something explicit, with lots of ooohs and ahhs, sighs, moans and groans (I can't believe I read cookbooks the same way)! Enough already....I must get some shut eye, and plan a video, this ought to be good. Then, there sits below, next to the books, that old jaywalker I am still trying like heck to get goin' now that the mistake is understood. I wish she had said repeat rows one and two of the pattern like everyone else, duh!

GRUMPY OVER GRUMPERINA'S JAYWALKER

I am really tired today. I have not knit at all today. I did go to the library and picked up a few nice knitting books. I finally got a good look at Wrap Style. There's a few I'm gona make.

My cold is finally subsiding. I knick-named the mucus relief pill "drano." Smelly little generic thing, but it has really helped. The congestion is almost gone.

My oldest boy's girlfriend just took her nursing exam to be licensed and is all in a tizzy according to him. Please pray that she passes. I have confidence that she may.

One sleeve is almost done on my lacy summer sweater, but I may have to rework it. Since I am designing the sweater, I usually have to rework the sleeves to come out right. I think I might be able to get it done for Easter.

All of my daffodils are blooming, but I did not take any pictures today.

Tamara discovered the problem with my Jaywalker Sock. I forgot to do just plain knitting every other row. So, now I am really grumpy with these socks. Sure, get down to the toes and realize....well, you fill in the space.

JAYWALKER MAY MAKE ME GRUMPY

The cold.... my head is under pressure. I wish the dam would break and there would be spillage and ruin, and that the sun would come out. It is very gray here today, unusual for South Metro Denver, which is sooooooo sunny and nice, the pic is as blurry as my head feels, but yes, that is my Saturday sky. We do need the rain and my crab apple tree is loving it(a little blurry too, but those white spots are huge rain drops. My tulips on the otherhand are snug and cozy under the eaves, nestled up nicely next to the garage and lovin' it....I wish I felt like they look, so green and vibrant. Well maybe not so green, but vibrant would do.

The front right side of my lacy summer sweater was done early this morning. and Stephanie wrote me from Unwind because I had to ask her if she was doing anything different on her Jaywalkers. I swear my decreases look way different from hers. Anyway, does anyone have any comments about this? I am slipping two stitches, knitting one and PSSsO. Same as Unwind's, is it me, or do they look different?

The Start of Grumpyness/New Inspiration

Down to the toes. Yes, when I got grumpy with Grumperina's Jaywalkers, in Opal Prisma and when I recently purchased a new ball of Trekking (which I can't keep my eyes off the colorway) well, I just had to design my own sock. I think I will call them the Larkspur Hikers. The blues are as mesmerizing as mountain lupines (larkspurs particularly). I'm lovin' the Eye of the Peacock stitch on the heel.

I had to start the jaywalkers four times to get them to fit right. I ended up on size two needles and I gotta say, these socks don't have much give in the design, and the design, for some reason keep kicking me in the brain, yes, it made my brain hurt to do it(the design). Anyway, I am off to an invite, new gallery down on Santa Fe. Friday's are always fun, places to go, things to do.
